Terms of service
About these terms
This website (whenuahoney.co.nz) is operated by Whenua Honey Ltd, a Māori-owned, whānau-owned New Zealand company based at 159 Church Street, Ōpōtiki 3122 ("Whenua Honey", "we", "us", "our"). These terms apply when you browse our website, buy products, or book a session through it. By placing an order or booking, you agree to these terms, together with our Refund policy, Shipping policy, Purchase options cancellation policy and Privacy policy.
Your rights under New Zealand law
Nothing in these terms limits or excludes your rights under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993, the Fair Trading Act 1986, or any other law that cannot be excluded. If you buy as a consumer, our products come with guarantees that they are of acceptable quality, fit for purpose, match their description, and that our services are carried out with reasonable care and skill. If something goes wrong, contact us and we will put it right in line with those guarantees, including a repair, replacement, or refund where the law provides for one. Where these terms seem to conflict with those laws, the law applies.
Products and descriptions
We take care to describe our honey, oils, hydrosols and other products accurately, including grades such as UMF™ ratings, sizes and ingredients. Natural products vary a little between harvests and batches in colour, texture and aroma, and product photos are a guide only. If a product you receive is not as described, please contact us.
Health information
Our products are kai (food) and natural care products from the whenua. They are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease. Information on our website is general and is not a substitute for advice from your doctor or other health professional. Please check ingredients if you have allergies, including to bee products, and patch-test oils on a small area of skin first. Honey should not be given to babies under 12 months old.
Rongoā, spa and healing sessions
When you book a session through our website, we will confirm the date, time and location with you. Please tell us about any health conditions, injuries or allergies that may be relevant before your session.
Changing or cancelling a session
Please give us at least 24 hours’ notice by phone or email to change or cancel a booking, so we can offer the time to someone else.
• Woodfired Rongoā Bath and Traditional Māori Healing Session (privately paid): these sessions take significant preparation. With 24 hours’ notice or more, you can reschedule or receive a full refund. With less than 24 hours’ notice, we will offer one free reschedule; if you cancel late again, 50% of the session fee is kept. If you do not attend and do not contact us, the full fee is kept.
• Koha sessions: no cancellation fee. We simply ask for 24 hours’ notice.
• ACC-funded sessions: no cancellation or missed-appointment fees are charged to you, and ACC is never charged for a session that did not go ahead. Please give 24 hours’ notice so we can offer the time to another client.
• All other sessions: no cancellation fee, but please give 24 hours’ notice.
We will always waive late-cancellation fees for illness, tangihanga or genuine emergencies. Any refund will be made to your original payment method.
Prices and payment
Prices are in New Zealand dollars and include GST unless stated otherwise. Shipping is shown at checkout. Payments are processed securely by our payment providers. We do not see or store your full card details. If we make an obvious pricing error, we will contact you before dispatch and give you the choice to pay the correct price or cancel for a full refund.
Orders
Your order is an offer to buy. We accept it when we dispatch the goods or confirm your booking. If a product is unavailable, or we cannot accept an order for another genuine reason, we will tell you and refund any payment in full.
Delivery, returns and pre-orders
Delivery is covered by our Shipping policy. Returns and refunds are covered by our Refund policy. Pre-orders are covered by our Purchase options cancellation policy.
International orders
If you order from outside New Zealand, you are responsible for any import duties, taxes, and for checking that the products can be imported into your country. The consumer laws of your country may also give you rights that cannot be excluded.
Our responsibility
To the extent the law allows, we are not responsible for loss that was not reasonably foreseeable at the time of your purchase, or for business losses such as lost profits when you buy for business purposes. This does not affect your rights under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 or the Fair Trading Act 1986.
Using our website
Please use our website lawfully and do not interfere with its security or operation. The website is provided as it is, and we may change or update it, or our products and prices, from time to time. Changes do not affect orders already accepted.
Intellectual property and mātauranga
The Whenua Honey name, logos, product designs, photographs and written content on this website belong to Whenua Honey Ltd. Our stories, kōrero and mātauranga Māori are shared with respect and may not be copied or used commercially without our written permission.

Our website may link to other websites. We are not responsible for their content or practices.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. The version shown on this page when you place your order applies to that order.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of New Zealand, and New Zealand courts and tribunals, including the Disputes Tribunal, have jurisdiction.
