Everything starts with the land. Our Mānuka grows wild and untouched on the East Coast of Aotearoa — one of the most biodiverse and spiritually potent regions in the country. Nestled on the banks of the Ōtara River in Te Moana-a-Toi, Ōpōtiki, this is whenua that has been tended, honoured, and lived on for generations.

The river runs beside us. The mountains hold us. The land breathes. This is not just where we work — it is who we are.

2. The Bees — Messengers of the Mānuka

Our bees move freely across the East Cape, gathering from wild Mānuka in bloom. No pesticides. No shortcuts. Just bees doing what they have always done — carrying the mauri of the land from flower to comb.

During peak season, our whānau work from sunrise to sunset, placing hives across the breathtaking hillsides and valleys of the East Coast. Every hive is crafted from recycled native timber, sourced locally, honouring the spirit of our tīpuna.

3. The Honey — Taonga from the Hive

From hive to jar, our Mānuka honey is handled with care and intention. UMF certified. Wild harvested. Blessed by our Tohunga — each batch carries karakia, tikanga, and the sacred knowledge of rongoā Māori.

The mauri of this whenua does not diminish in the jar. It travels with you — into your home, your body, your wairua. This is not simply honey. This is a taonga — a gift from the land, offered with aroha.

4. The Healing — Where the Journey Completes

For those who can come to us — the journey goes deeper. At Whenua Healing Spa, the same Mānuka that feeds our bees now feeds your healing. Our woodfired rongoā bath, rongoā shower, and traditional healing sessions are rooted in the whakapapa of Io Matua Kore — the Supreme Source of all life. These are not just treatments. They are a return to yourself.
